Hi there, I'm new to this board and to AoF. I was interested in wargaming and ran into the OPR site. The rules are very easy to learn and my thought was to make it compatible to the 1/72 scale. I know it's not the common scale for wargaming but it is a nice and cheaper alternative. For the lack of variety in fantasy figures you have to improvise or convert here and there. So here I introduce you me and my first take on some 1/72 madness and maybe it could inspire some to do the same.
First was a Necromancer for the Undead. It should look like a gravedigger:
And his 3 friends: my Take on Ghoul Horrors (they should look like melted together by some crazy sticher guy)
I re-visited the miniature painting after 12 years so the paintjob is capable of development. I hope you enjoy the little guys.

Very cool! What brand 1/72 miniatures are you using? I have some 1/72 Romans and Barbarians I picked up from a garage sale that I want to try with skirmish games. At $3 for 40-something figures, it seemed like a great deal.

Here is a thread from The Miniatures Page about using 1/72 figure. theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=440367I'm a bit bothered by how much is a rip-off of the Peter Jackson look (and so a rip-off of the GW figures), but there is so much in interesting ancients figures you could use for fantasy armies as well. andy

The brands I am using are: zvezda, caesar, alliance, revell and italeri but I'm looking for some new good brands to get my hands on. A very good review for many historical figure is here www.plasticsoldierreview.comIn my opinion zvezda is making the best figures: nice plastic, very good sculpting and nice poses (especialy for fantasy lord/champions) Caesar is nice too: soft plastic (nice for conversions) and no blister so no left over plastic. But you have some curvy spears here and there. No problem with some warm warter and a little bit of bending. And they do have some fantasy figures like andy said LotR and GW'ish. Revell is very good hm... was very good. They stoped the 1/72 figures production. If you can find a box of lets say Imperial 30years war pikemen for 13-15€ get them! Alliance is like the only fantasy/apocalyptic only brand. Very nice scuplting too and good plastic. The last one and the weakest in my opinion is italeri. The figures are a little to flat for my taste. There are many more on the page I've posted to use as fantasy minis. Maybe try some aztec worriors for special orcs? When finished I'll post my favorite zvezda pikemen here. They make a nice Human Imperial spear unit. Hope that helped. cheers
