Hey folks! So I have a unique problem which others may relate with: I love the rules for Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy, and very much want to start playing more games with both rulesets, but as it stands each of the factions seems very clearly tailored to a specific playstyle and feel, which can make it hard to slot in my own collections with what armies exist in the game. So, this is just a list of some of the settings and factions I'd like to see support for in One Page Rules, either officially or fan-made.
Again, I might get around to making some faction lists to run myself sometime, and for now I can probably just cram whatever faction I need into whatever list I want, but it'd be nice to have some unique lists on hand to fit some of the nuances of specific armies. Anywho, those're just my thoughts.
- Star Wars: One of the biggest on my list. The ruleset for Grimdark Future is perfect for Star Wars, only really needing some relabeling of names to fit the setting (replace Psychic with the Force, rename weapons, etc.). Fortunately, there's already a perfect list for the Rebellion--the Rebel Guerrillas--but the Empire doesn't have much of a suitable double. You could run HDF, but there're a few points of confusion (what do you represent Stormtroopers with? Basic infantry or elite stormtroopers?), as well as some out of place units and lacking doubles for stuff like Officers and "Night Sire's of the Evil Space Wizards."
- Lord of the Rings: I love Middle Earth, and have a decent collection of the GW minis, but the theme of each faction and race is wildly different from the themes of Age of Fantasy armies, making it hard to just jump in and grab a faction sheet. Like, sure, I could run Gondor with the Humans faction, but that big section of blackpowder weapons will be staring at me condescendingly, not to mention lesser factions like the Easterlings or Hobbits. (In all honesty this is a bit more nitpicky and I'm sure I'd be fine just cleaning out some personal lists for myself, but figured I may as well mention it.)
- Historical: A bit more broad, but one I'm very much interested in is historical settings, particularly Medieval, Napoleonic, and WWII. For Medieval I know you can probably just run Chivalrous Knights sans all fantasy units/rules, but Napoleonic is a bit trickier, what with how central blackpowder weapons and how they operated were in that period--stuff like spending time to reload, operating big guns, etc. For all of these time periods (and more besides) you could probably do just fine by creating a single list for the era, with a set of faction bonuses to choose from based on your nation (maybe making the bonuses generic so players can just pick a bonus if they wanna run a more obscure faction).
