Hi all,
I'm a new patreon backer and just managed to do a full read through of the full rulebooks. One thing I've always wanted to try again after WHFB3E/WH40K1E is 'crossing over' fantasy and sci-fi (think feudal worlds in 40k, or the Outlander movie starring Jim Caviezel).
To that end, it appears GF and AoF are functionally identical. What considerations would I have to take into account if pitting, say, a fantasy human army with a single unit of GF Battle Brothers who crashed to the planet against a horde GF Orc Marauders that have linked up with some AoF Orcs?
Thanks!

The biggest thing I usually see mentioned to consider is that AoF is very melee focused while GF can be very shooty.

Back in 2nd edition 40K it was possible to do cross over between Sci-fi and Fantasy. Due to one being more melee focused and the other more shooting it was best to half the points cost of the Fantasy stuff to get some balance. Either that or allowing a fantasy list 50% extra, so 1,000pts for GDF, and 1,500pts for AoF.

I think you can totally play a crossover match without even adjusting the points, since fantasy units don't have a lot of powerful ranged weapons they tend to be much cheaper anyway.

Plus most units are taken in blocks of 10 and thus combine to units of 20. Most GDF units are taken in 5 and combine to 10 so fantasy would outnumber GDF. You'd have more soldiers then they have bullets!
