NOTE FROM OPR - BATTLESCRIBE HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY REPLACED BY THE FREE OPR WEBAPP: webapp.onepagerules.com/
THE BATTLESCRIBE DATA IS NOT UP TO DATE ANYMORE, AND IS OBSOLETE NOW THAT THE WEBAPP EXISTS
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT CONTRIBUTED, WE WOULDN'T HAVE MADE OUR OWN APP WITHOUT YOU! --------------------------- Hi everyone,[/div] I'm creating a new thread because we've just recently expanded to begin work not only on a GDF BattleScribe data set, but also AOF! As such, I wanted to deprecate the old GDF BattleScribe 2.0 thread and make a centralized one to provide updates against. How to access and use the Battlescribe data files? The files are not hosted in the main Battlescribe data repositories, but in a secondary BSData Gallery collection of "alternative" game systems. This is a way for OPR game files to be "officially" hosted without being officially hosted. The benefit to end users is that once you add BSData to your client once, you get access to all of the game systems it contains. No need to manually adding a link to import each game individually like before*.
Instructions downloading the latest files:
*NOTE: The iOS client for BattleScribe does not support alternative data hosting sites, like BSData that we're now using. As such, iOS users will need to continue to manually add links to import the .bsi index files using the "old" method.
What about my army, is it up-to-date and if not when will you be getting to it? The README section at the GitHub repos above lists all of the army lists and their current version in Battlescribe. Those are accurate, so if the version listed there is not the latest released by OPR then the Battlescribe data for that army is behind, and weβll be getting to it.
I started working on updates as a personal project for my playgroup to use it for our games. So I prioritize armies we play. After that I go through the lists by popularity to try to provide as much community value as possible. I'm sorry if yours isn't near the top!
How can you help? The biggest help would be to just use the files and let me know if you find bugs or problems. If youβre interested in helping to author new files, please message me darguth #9001 on Discord and we'll loop you into the community. Changelog (Major Updates Only) - 2021-07-29: Huge news! Data repositories migrated to BSData Gallery and Grimdark Future: Firefight now supported!
- 2021-01-14: Major progress on AOF armies continues, more than half of them are complete and supported.
- 2020-12-23: Major overhaul of Battle/Prime Bros and Detachments (LINK to details)
- 2020-12-14: All GDF armies are back up-to-date.
- 2020-07-28: All GDF and AOF armies brought back up to current following the 2+ cost readjustments.
- 2020-07-23: Initial AOF Entry - Dwarves and Havoc Dwarves available and up-to-date.
- 2020-07-23: Initial GDF Entry - All armies available and currently up-to-date.

Good morning, Darguth! Happy Indomitus Day! π
I've tried adding the GDF army lists in BScribe a couple times but consistently get an error message: "java.lang.NullPointerException"
Details: java.lang.NullPointerException at net.battlescribe.a.b.a.c(BattleScribe:204) at net.battlescribe.desktop.common.RepositorySourceWindowController.a(BattleScribe:222) at net.battlescribe.desktop.common.RepositorySourceWindowController.access$downloadRepositorySource(BattleScribe:22) at net.battlescribe.desktop.common.RepositorySourceWindowController$a.a(BattleScribe:247) at net.battlescribe.desktop.common.RepositorySourceWindowController$a.call(BattleScribe:245) at javafx.graphics/javafx.concurrent.Task$TaskCallable.call(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.util.concurrent.Executors$RunnableAdapter.call(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(Unknown Source) at java.base/java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
I'm on a new Mac (27" 2019), latest os (macOS 10.15.6) and latest bScribe (2.03.21)
I'm attempting to add the repo in BScribe by going to... Manage Data -> Add Data -> Add Data Source -> and putting in "github.com/sprutton1/GrimdarkFutureBattlescribe"
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the great work, really makes putting together my GDF armies more convenient!
I've found one problem: the special weapons choices and the Heavy Plague Flail for Havoc Brothers Plague Destroyers do not have a point cost.

All revamps related to the 2+ cost update have been completed for both GDF and AOF armies.
garthbo - Are you still getting the same error after this latest update? Could you try deleting your existing data files and updating fresh? Can you try reinstalling the BS app? That error looks like it's coming from the actual java app trying to fetch and install the index file, which likely is a problem with the app itself on iOS and not related to the data files I've created. You may need to reach out to the makers of BattleScribe for support for that kind of problem, unfortunately.

garthbo - It looks like you're using the "Add Data" option. You need to "Import Data". Can you try that and report if it works or not?

garthbo - It looks like you're using the "Add Data" option. You need to "Import Data". Can you try that and report if it works or not? darguth - Hmmm... in BScribe, I've tried ... going to "Manage Data" clicking "Import Data..." clicking on "Import from URL..." and putting in the URL github.com/sprutton1/GrimdarkFutureBattlescribe . I see a progress bar fill up and get the message "Data successfully imported!" ...which is an improvement - no error! π But... nothing is added to my original BattleScribe Data list and if I start to create a new roster I don't see any new army lists to choose from. π I've tried clicking "Update Data" & get the message "Data files successfully updated!" but nothing is added. I'll readily admit to this being a "User Error" issue as I haven't used BS very often and have never added any armylist info from a source not on the general list. I could provide screenshots if that'd help. Thanks for any help with this. ππ» Larry

garthbo Screenshots might help, we should perhaps take this to private messages. Did you delete your existing data before running the import? I think generally I need to do that when importing from a new source, otherwise the update command just looks at existing data files for some reason.

Also, High Elves have been added for AOF.

Thanks for the 2+ cost update! However, the special weapons choices (replacing twin assault rifles) and the Heavy Plague Flail for Havoc Brothers Disciples Plague Destroyers do not have their point cost in the Battlescribe data.
