The rulebook states that: "Ships may also additionally be assigned new weapons as upgrades, which must be mounted on a specific facing. Each facing may only have one weapon mounted, and ships have a front, sides (counts for both sides), and rear facing."
I originally interpreted this to mean that there is one "side facing" mount that can be used to make attacks on both sides, but the Avenger title allows for a ship to "fire side-mounted weapons from both side facings at once."
So are there two side-facing mounts, like a port-side mount and starboard-side mount? If this is the case, would a ship with Avenger be able to choose between either of its side-mounted weapons when shooting an enemy from its side-facing?
OR is there one side-facing mount that can be used when shooting enemies from either side? In which case, would a ship with Avenger be able to use its single side-mounted weapon to fire at two enemies simultaneously (one enemy on each of its sides).

It's the second one. There is one single side-facing mounted weapon that can be fired on either side, and Avenger allows to fire it from both sides at the same time.

I have a similar question re Upgrade Weapons described as Turrets (Rapid Fire Turret, Proximity Turret) I kind of expected these to have all-round fire like the default turret weapon. Is this tru?e - or are they fixed to a given facing (Front/sides/back).
Thanks - (Great little game by the way)

They are not all around weapons, and I see how this can be confusing, so I'll have to re-name them. Thanks for the feedback!
