Hi, we have been playing this for some time now, I play dwarves and my 6 year old grandson plays mummified undead. We don't do the objectives portion, just a flat out battle at 200 pts each. He is always wanting new things, so I have added a few "undead" for him with special abilities like invisibility, shooting fireballs, etc... Even though I let him have an extra to hit roll pretty much every turn, I still end up monkey stomping him every time. We have a fairly balanced set of armies, with ranged, melee and one wizard each.
My warriors vs his warriors in melee, I will pretty much wipe him out in 2 turns. His archers are pretty ineffective vs my 4+ save. His mummy wizard just doesn't seem to have as much punch as my Rune Master.
Are there some tactical things he should be doing, or would this be more balanced if we were trying to control objectives?

Check out the wiki for strategic tips: onepagerules.fandom.com/wiki/Mummified_Undead/TacticsOverall though, using objectives will usually make the game more balanced, but anyway without having more details on what kind of setup you have, what his strategy is, etc. it's going to be hard to know what you are doing right vs what he is doing wrong.

the wiki article is right. and i've got some tipps for you: dwarves do have a realy high def with 2+ /3+ so bring some AP! you can however use the normal skellis as "tarpit" units to abdorp the meele action from dwarven meele and then charge the unit with better skellis like guard or cav. the wizard needs to do 2 things: first nuff up the lesser skellis to make them more resilient or snipe the better dwarven units with the 1 hit AP4 deadly3 spell. or you can outrun the dwarves and try to kill the lesser armored range units first.
hope this helps out a bit cheers

Boss, he is 6, so his strategy is not getting killed 😁 I read through the wiki, and the advice from the other response, so I will have him nerf up the defense and weapons with his mummy priest in the next game. He also has a really short attention span (6 years old), so we usually only play 2 rounds in a session, especially if he is getting stomped, so it might take us a week or more for a whole game. We play 6 rounds, instead of 4, since there are no objectives. If we had objectives, and played 4 rounds, the slower speed of my stunties would be a bigger factor. We did play a 4 player game once, with my dwarves, his mummified undead, daddy's orcs, and mommy's wood elves. Wood elves are REALLY squishy. 😏 He did better at that one, and really well at stomping mommy's wood elves one on one.
