for mummy i used this list (there should be more! each Army Book should contain 500p "flavour" list on the first page). My Cockatiel opponent have more units, and not of worse quality. She just decimate me. So i think the starting army are not so balanced. The rules itself seems very out of calibration (2x HW). But the rule simplicity and game speed, make it very pleasant to play.
1. archers I think my opponent cheated with shooting from double row. But in core rules its written:"For the purpose of determining line of sight a model may
always ignore friendly models from its own unit."
2. What you mean : "If either unit was completely destroyed by removing all models
as casualties or by routing due to a failed morale test then the
other unit may either pivot by up to 180° or move by up to 3”
in any direction." ? I can move also side or back 3" ?
3. Mummies unit feels wrong. its cheaper that swarm of rats! Do more attack than swarm of rats, and its weaker than Swarm of rats. Mummy - a ducking noble Egyptian who can afford mummified process is worth less than sewage rat.
4. Spells that move friendly unit, f/ex Smiting in mummies. Does it mean the target unit dont lose own activation?
------------ideas...---------------
Phalanx - if we use simultaneous melee phase (as I hope we will, because the game is otherwise who strike first win). Then exception to it, could be Phalanx unit striking before the aggressor. Simpler, feel natural.
double Hand Weapon is plain too good, plus rolling 20 dice is annoying (it could be even more during charge with some special rules). I think core units could has Pair Weapon (1.5 A), which means for 10 rolls you have 5 attack, for 7 attack dice=> 11 dice with pair weapon (round up). But maybe Supporting Row rule is less complicated for OPR.
morale dont have enough impact. Wavering unit will just not be activated till round end. To spice things up, i think maybe during tie in Melee, both side have to do Morale check?
