When playing a phased battle how would you resolve combat 3? I have read the page multiple times but can't get my head around it for some reason.

Once a player has picked to resolve that combat, both sides strike simultaneously and combat resolution happens after. Each unit may only attack one other unit, so the ones that are in contact with multiple units must puck which to attack. Hope this helps!

One more thing! If only half the unit is in contact (like in combat 3) do they only get half of their total attacks?

yes, only model that can strike target can attack
page 11, determine attacks, example
this make your multiple unit combat picture example above, quite compicate to solve.

One more thing! If only half the unit is in contact (like in combat 3) do they only get half of their total attacks? All models in the two front rows always get to attack regardless of how many are actually in contact.

Thanks for the help I'll be playing in 6mm and abstracting wounds to tough values instead so this way of dealing with attacks will be perfect... Saves me from having to count fiddly 6mm minis!
