Basically, making two armies/warbands from the same army book and pitting them against each other (humans vs. humans, orcs vs. orcs, etc).

Not weird, per se, just uncommon. Maybe? Most battle reports I see (from various wargames) are between different armies, so I just figured not a lot of people do mirror matches. I'm mostly just curious.

That is pretty much how I set up my two opposing factions during AI games. It is a good way to pick up the basic mechanics of the game.

In our first OPR games we both played Humans from AoF:S starter kit using proxies. We also tried playing HEF vs HEF with my wife, since this is the only painted army, that I have Both sides need to be little more cautios about "which guys/gals are mine", but otherwise the game is similar.
