Hi all, I have found the best inspiration for making painting progress is to see other people's painting progress, and the inspirations build upon each other. Given that Grimdark Future: Firefight uses much smaller armies than Grimdark Future, I see it as the perfect chance to make progress on painting a full army.

Given that the primary friend, with whom I play Grimdark Future and Grimdark Future: Firefight, does not paint, I have been slowly working on his TAO Coalition army along with my Battle Brothers (space dwarves) army. In tribute to the release of Grimdark Future: Firefight v1.0, I present the work-in-progress for the first draft of the 150pt TAO Coalition team: From left to right: Stealth Suit with gatling carbine, Stealth Suit with gatling carbine, Scout with pulse carbine and Spotter Drone, Grunt with pulse carbine, Grunt with pulse carbine The Scout is most likely getting replaced with a different model, since in this picture I am using Games Workshop's Tau Empire Fire Warriors for both the Scout and the Grunts. At this point, the plan for what models to use is as follows: - 2x Stealth Suits <-- Games Workshop Tau Empire Stealth Suits
- 2x Grunts <-- Games Workshop Tau Empire Fire Warriors
- 1x Scout <-- Mantic Games Enforcer Pathfinder
- 1x Spotter Drone <-- Currently a Games Workshop Tau Empire Markerlight Drone, but I'm working on a scratch-built drone for this, since the Spotter Drone only has a Spotting Laser (and no gun, unlike the model in question)
Of course, all of this could change, the next time we play, as we both refine our Grimdark Future: Firefight lists.
Comments and critiques are absolutely welcome.

Cool! Very cleanly painted models and nice colour scheme. I hope to see more from you! Also thanks for creating this thread, I just recently finished painting my Orc and Havoc Brother teams so this really came at the right time. These are my Chaos Space Marines of Word Bearer Legion whom I will use as regular Havoc Bros. As you can see they're little atypical looking since they're not actual CSM models, but converted from AoBR Tactical Marines with some Daemonette and Possessed bits. All have Fearless Special Rule and one of them holds Plasma Rifle while others got Linked Assault Rifles. My Orc Team on the other hand is pretty basic, no conversions whatsoever, but with original color scheme. I call this Space Ork clan "Squigfacez", because I really, really, really love squigs! As do they, they're like Snakebites gone overboard. It's such a shame that Squig units in 40k are quite scarce compared to Fantasy. Gaming-wise this team is quite vanilla, no upgrades except for Boss who carries an axe with Energy Sword rules. So there you have it, these are my teams for now until I get more Orc Marauders and Havoc Brothers painted. I also have lots of fully painted Chaos Daemons waiting for the new Havoc Daemon rules. I can't wait for that!

Thanks, kabomaru! The color scheme is for his custom Tau sept.
Oooh, those Havoc Brothers look super clean! Nicely done, especially the purity seal script and script all over their armor. Are the chaos and chapter symbols painted freehand?
Haha, Orc's leader needs a miniature Squiq riding on his broad shoulders...

Yes, those are freehand. Didn't really have a choice since I was missing some liquid that would help transfer sheets to curve along shoulder pads.
I actually found one tiny little squig in my fiancee's bits box (I have no idea where she got that, and I'm sure she doesn't even remember) so I attached it on my Ork Warboss model's base as a small but ferocious attack squig. Haven't yet painted the Warlord, but I will eventually!

(My fiancee paints, too, but I manage the bits box in this relationship. Hah!)

As an aside, kabomaru looks to be doing some interesting reading. University classes, or just for recreation?

As an aside, kabomaru looks to be doing some interesting reading. University classes, or just for recreation? Ah yes, those books are literature for bachelor's thesises my fiancee and I are currently working on, left stack being mine and right stack is fiancee's. We're both university students in University of Helsinki, main subject being study of religions. Honestly though, I often use those books as terrain for games, like a proper wargaming scholar should :'')

Here's some models we're currently working on: My fiancee is heading for the Storm Trooper/Empire aesthetic for her TAO Coalition Team. All the regular Joes are going to be white while the Drones, Crisis Suits and such are going to be black. I'm currently working on my Warlord, 4 Bosses, 3 Goblins and Orc Herder. I'm really looking forward to fielding an elite-unit focused Orc Marauder Team, like a team full of Orc Bosses! Besides that, I have 2 fully painted Possessed Bros. and 1 almost finished Dark Champion. I've used her before in 1pKT-times as an multi-purpose model standing for both Sorcerer and Lord separately. I'm so happy that Dark Apostle equivalent rules we're finally made since now I can field her properly, and the Word Bearers theme is now more coherent. I also have a model for Havoc Daemon Champion, but haven't touched it for a while since Firefight rules don't support unit this big and strong. But I might actually just field him either as a Sorcerer or Lord and give him +1 Defense or Flying. Like a nerfed version of the regular Daemon Champion. That option would motivate me to start painting him again.

Those are some good-looking buildings. Do they collapse? From what are the smoke markers made? kabomaru, what is that Dark Champion model? It looks awesome!

spencer, Model I used is GW's Space Marine Captain: Lord Executioner. I was originally going to make a regular Space Marine army, and I really liked this particular model so I was planning to make it the Captain of my forces. However at some point I decided to convert all of my Marines into Chaos, so I could run my Marines with my Chaos Daemons. Chaos symbol on top of the backpack was from Daemon Prince kit and the head of the Crozius was from Assault on Black Reach box, I think?
