I like BattleScribe over all, and hope we can get the issue fixed. I've occasionally tried to get some attention to the bug reports.
The Army Builder app is rated pretty low. BattleScribe isn't high, but higher than AB.
$40 for AB? I think I put in some money for BattleScribe, but don't remember how much. Not that much!
Actually, the computer version of BattleScribe has some problems for me, too. It doesn't seem to handle screen resolution well. Everything is teeny on my screen. That has been reported as well.
However, I am most in favor of whatever the people who will invest time in making the files for OPR want to use. If not for that work, either tool is useless.

andyskinner - BattleScribe has gone subscription, and for 1 mobile and 1 desktop platform it's $6/year, so it will take 7 years to match the cost of Army Builder - unless they raise the subscription costs which they can at any point. So, cheaper in the short run, more expensive in the long run. Also, as I understand it, Army Builder's mobile app is just a roster viewer. So, BattleScribe is a win there for flexibility. To be clear in my view - I need to redo the GF rosters no matter what because 2E is coming out. Once 2E does come out, I am going to have to start from scratch in the current version of whatever program we pick and remake them all; I assume I basically won't be able to use anything. So, since I need to do all that work anyway, I might as well ask what program people prefer. Back when I did them originally, I preferred BattleScribe because it ran on Linux and Army Builder doesn't. I care about that less now that I was able to use the Win 7 license code that came with my laptop to install Win 10 on a VM, so I actually have a Windows machine.

I usually use LibreOffice Calc I installed battlescribe on Linux, but didn't use it much, since Tao are not available I also have a Xen win7 VM for gaming, but would prefer Linux native solution.

My problem with spreadsheet solutions is that they often mix the program with the days. At least that's what I have seen in the past.

I like BattleScribe better for all the reasons that Mattcaron has listed. But, if there is a bug in it that keeps it from being used then it seems like AB is the next best thing.

Battlescribe is a great tool...when it works. For me, personally, I have found it just as fast to use a spreadsheet.

@be'lakor - it doesn't stop it from being used, it just means I need to rewrite the files - which I need to do for 2E anyway.

I too prefer Battlescribe, but not for particular reasons so much as it's all I know.

I prefer battlescribe because the mobile app is better IMHO both as usability and layout.
